The story of Mason’s is a journey that starts from the heart of Italian tailoring, precisely from the 1950s, when Vilmo Martini, the grandfather of the founder Giorgio Martini, expertly managed the workshop in Marina di Carrara. Vilmo was a creator of highly talented patterns, a true artist who, through the Facis brand (born in the 1930s), carried on the art of elegance and Italian authenticity.

Carrara, already famous as the world marble capital, was also a lively crossroads of culture and trends. In this stimulating environment, Giorgio Martini inherited not only the passion for fashion, but also an entrepreneurial vision that led him to establish two precursor brands of Mason’s: Nemart and Red Jacket.

The spark that changed everything

Raised among fabrics, needles, and sewing machines, Giorgio Martini always had fashion in his blood. But it was during a trip to South America in 1974 that he found the definitive inspiration. There, he came into contact with the military uniforms of the Colombian liberation army, made from a sturdy cotton called Libertador. Giorgio was struck by their essentiality and functionality, immediately sensing the potential.

From that insight, Mason’s was born, a brand that managed to transform the practicality of the military uniform into a lifestyle. Iconic figures such as Che Guevara and Fidel Castro became symbols of the brand's identity, representing freedom and revolution. The cargo pants, a cornerstone of the collection, became an icon: a garment that tells stories, adapts to the life of its wearer, and improves over time.
